NARCA Wrap-Up: A NL Networking Win-Win!

The 2011 Fall NARCA conference was great! It kept us so busy that we didn’t have time for daily reports, as previously planned! Here’s a summary of some key events that we participated in.

Tuesday night, I arrived in Scottsdale, AZ. My flights from Bismark were on schedule and uneventful. Yeah!  The Westin Kierland Resort is a beautiful venue  for a conference.  There is plenty of room for people to meet and network in the  hotel lobby and on the terrace outside.

Wednesday morning, I had breakfast with a couple of friends, each an  operations manager for a mid-size law firm.  Their jobs are extremely demanding,  and they are passionate about what they do.  They had so much to talk about that  I suggested we start a Peer Group Meeting. They both agreed that would be a good  idea.  I’m looking forward to forming an Operations Peer Group Meeting when I  get back to the office.

On Wednesday evening, we celebrated the expansion into VA of one of our MD law firms, Weinstock, Friedman & Friedman, with a dinner at Bourbon Steak.

During the day Thursday, we sat in on several user meetings held by NL clients that engage our services and our law firm members. Some of the key initiatives discussed in these meetings were collecting dormant judgments, protecting the client brand/customer focus, diversification, media management and the increasing pressure on compliance.

Thursday night, Kacey Rask and I attended the Professional Women’s Networking Meeting. Joann Needleman and Faith Braverman both spoke about their careers and shared what they have learned along the way to get them where they are. There was a lot of positive feedback from the women at this event. Both Kacey and I agreed that the information Joann and Faith shared was educational and inspirational!

On Friday, I hosted a casual luncheon for some of the legal network managers we work with at NL. It included a group of people who have a lot in common and who I have enjoyed meeting with at past NARCA conferences.  I have held this luncheon for this group for 2 years now and I plan to continue this tradition that gives us an opportunity to know more about each other and what we do.

We also facilitated a meeting with a group of legal network managers and Thom Majka from DebtNext. Thom is working on an audit program for NL customers where DebtNext will audit one firm for several clients and the cost of auditing that one firm will be split among those several clients. Thom was able to get enough feedback to move forward. We will keep you informed on the progress of this program.

Friday night we celebrated the 15th anniversary of our law firm member, Gurstel Chargo. They held a private party at Narcisse. It was crowded but oh so fun! A very special thanks to Todd Gurstel for his hospitality! May he have another successful 15 years to look forward to!

We came home exhausted, but NARCA was fun and very productive for the NL team. Jeffrey Zuck, Randy Nicola, Bev Unrath and Kacey Rask all attended on behalf of NL as just 4 of the 975 registered attendees.

We invite you to comment and share your NARCA experiences with our readers. See you next year!
